Georgia Advisory Council for the Trust for Public Land

Saving land for people. Jackie has been interested in the environment ever since her father dragged her to field trips with students from his environmental studies class. Her first green memory is picking up a toilet seat off the highway on the second Earth Day clean up. Jackie serves on the Georgia Advisory Council for the Trust for Public Land.

Genesis

Jackie became involved in Genesis, a shelter and counseling organization serving the needs of homeless newborns and their families, shortly after her second child’s birth. While she was Treasurer, the organization raised over $5 million for a new facility. As a fellow board member always reminded her – “we have to raise the money – nothing worse than a homeless homeless shelter.” Jackie serves on the board of Genesis Shelter.

A2A4A - The Arthritis Foundation

Big Dreams do come true! Over $140,000 has been raised for the Arthritis Foundation. Jackie and her sister Kathy formed America to Anywhere for Arthritis, in 2007 to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. Kathy, who has Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Jackie have completed the Athens, Greece Marathon, the Dublin, Ireland Marathon and the Portland Oregon Marathon. They, along with the A2A4A team have raised money and awareness for the Arthritis Foundation.

Atlanta History Center

The Atlanta History Center was founded in 1926. Located on 33 acres in historic Buckhead, the Atlanta History Center strives to connect people, history and culture through one of the country's premier History Centers. The Atlanta History Center is a unique campaus that houses the Atlanta History Museum, Centennial Olympic games Museum, Swan House, Tullie Smith Farm, six historic gardens and the Kenan Research Center. The Atlanta History Center also includes the Margaret Mitchell House, located off-site at our Midtown campus. Jackie's husband Jimmy Cushman, Jr., serves on the Board of Trustees. botanical_gardensAtlanta Botanical Gardens

Jackie and her husband Jimmy chaired the 2007 Garden of Eden Ball benefiting the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. The ball was in honor of Jimmy’s grandfather, Philip Alston, junior, who helped found the garden. Jimmy Cushman, Jr., served 7 years on the Atlanta Botanical Gardens Board of Trustees.
