Republican Nominee Donald Trump's national security speech this Monday night clearly laid out his vision and understanding of Radical Islamic Terrorism, the greatest threat that our country faces today. Framed with the fact that "in the 20th Century, the United States defeated fascism, nazism, and communism," Trump argued his strategy on how to make America safe again.

ATLANTA -- It's hot, it's humid and people are miserable and exhausted by the daily temperatures that surpass 90 degrees. The dog days of summer are here.

The ancient Romans coined the phrase "dog days" based on the period of time that the brightest star (Sirius, the Dog Star) rose and set in conjunction with the sun. The Romans believed that Sirius radiated heat to the Earth, causing the hottest part of the year as it traveled with the sun.

Recasting Hillary Clinton

The Democratic National Convention's attempt to focus this week on party unity was almost overwhelmed even before the coronation process in Philadelphia got underway.

Wikileaks' massive dump of emails provided the world with a glimpse behind the curtain of the operations at the DNC. Some of the emails revealed a bias against Sen. Bernie Sanders, and several showed that the organization was seeking to influence media outlets to favor her over her opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders.

America's Potential

The Republican Convention this week resulted in the nomination of Donald Trump and Mike Pence for the party's ticket in the fall. No more "presumptive nominee" for Trump. While some may disparage this week's proceedings as disorderly and disorganized, it has been dull and anti-climactic for those who were hoping for a convention floor fight. What it will accomplish for certain is to move the party from the seemingly never-ending nomination marathon to the next phase of the campaign, which is one that will test the candidates' endurance and strategy.
