Huge Contrast

With less than two months to go before the presidential election, every day counts. This past week provided a huge contrast between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump.

While Clinton is telling us she thinks (some) Americans are deplorable, and that telling us about her health is no big deal, Obama's campaigning for her is reminding us that she is an extension of today's establishment. Meanwhile, Trump is holding policy speeches and introducing thoughtful, detailed reform programs that will help everyday Americans and that are very different from what Clinton is producing.

Winning Versus Leading

Labor Day has passed, school is back in session, businesses are planning for the new year, presidential nominees are set, and it's time for the presidential candidates to sprint to the end.

With two months to go, every move becomes more important and every error more painful for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. While their immediate goal may be to win the election, their real goal should be to lead the American people after the election. This requires that, in addition to winning 270 electoral votes, the next president must also receive a majority of the popular vote.

The War on Poverty, A Better Way

On January 8, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson kicked off the War on Poverty during his State of the Union speech, declaring "unconditional war on poverty in America." Congress joined with him and created programs to provide benefits to those in need. "Our aim," stated Johnson, "is not only to relieve the symptoms of poverty, but to cure it and, above all, to prevent it."

Reminiscent of Reagan

Republican Nominee Donald Trump's national security speech this Monday night clearly laid out his vision and understanding of Radical Islamic Terrorism, the greatest threat that our country faces today. Framed with the fact that "in the 20th Century, the United States defeated fascism, nazism, and communism," Trump argued his strategy on how to make America safe again.
