Real Honesty

Slightly more than a month into his presidency, Donald Trump reflected on his performance so far -- both in terms of what's been done and how it's been communicated -- during a Tuesday interview with "Fox and Friends." Trump, known for being frank with others about their performance, was equally frank about himself and his administration.

Real News Versus Newsish

For the past decade, there has been an increased focus on good nutrition and "real" food. Most people understand that while a treat at the ballpark might be fine in moderation (who can resist the cotton candy), a diet of cotton candy will not lead to a good physical outcome. Neither will a diet that consists only of fast food and processed food items.

Where Strength Comes From

This Presidents' Day, instead of buying a new appliance, read George Washington's Farewell Address and Abraham Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address.

The two speeches provide insight into my two favorite presidents. Both presided over our country during times of vast change and both put their country before themselves. It would be hard to imagine our country being formed without George Washington's presence, or being saved without Abraham Lincoln.

If you have ever engaged in improv theater, then you have experienced the process of "yes, and..." What happens is a person says something that may or may not make sense, and you continue forward by following their statement with a "yes, and," which links to what you say next.

Facts, Opinions and Outrage

During his inaugural speech, President Trump put the establishment of both parties on notice that the American people will come first under his leadership. He also spoke about what we can do together. Since his inauguration a little over a week ago, President Trump has moved rapidly, implementing promises made on the campaign trail. Republicans are in charge of both the House and the Senate, but the Democrats are making their opposition known as loudly as possible. Even President Obama joined the fray.
